Gay Stage Play ‘Corpus Christi’ (That Revamps The Murder of Jesus Christ) Coming to DVD.

Grab your prayer cloth. This preview is too hot to handle.

Playwright Terrence McNally introduced ‘Corpus Christi‘ to the New York City theatre scene in 1998 to protest and bomb threats like the city had never seen before. He still stood solid on the play running it’s course.

“One of the reasons I wrote [this play] is because I profoundly believe we are created in God’s image and I am as much created in his image as anybody else on his planet.” McNally says of the production.

The tale of Jesus Christ as an openly gay man administering marriages amongst apostles, and an overly-jealous lover named Judas who plotted his murder,  was deemed ‘blasphemous‘ by to every Christian group known to man.

“God hates homosexuality. God hates you.”

The play was re-introduced with new cast and production team in 2006 in San Francisco and things are still the same. The upcoming documentary ‘Corpus Christi: Playing with Redemption‘ covers the play, it’s haters, and all of it’s glory. While no release date has been set just yet the film has been getting rave reviews at film festival’s across the country.
